About Kingston Invents

Kingston Invents was formed in early 2005 to help innovators “turn their incredible ideas into credible products and services”. It is a known fact that the UK has more inventiveness per capita than any other nation on earth, and that very few of these inventions are exploited on behalf of the original inventor.

To successfully exploit an idea it is essential to talk to people, get feedback, learn from others and get advice. A prime aim of the club is to create an environment of trust, opportunity and support to enable inventors to move their ideas forward.

Kingston Invents is supported by Kingston University Enterprise Exchange, home of “The Virtual Company” (TVC) scheme and the Knowledge Exchange for seven London Universities. Its staff have a long history in business support and the commercialisation of innovative ideas, and have obtained millions of pounds funding on behalf of clients.

It is this experience and success that can be beneficial to club members.

The club offers a programme of meetings and events that includes the following:

  • Presentations by invited speakers about topics such as Intellectual Property / Patent process, market assessment and grant funding

  • Case Studies by Entrepreneurs and Inventors with a story to tell

  • Inventor Clinics under “non-disclosure” conditions with experienced mentors

  • Access to facilities and relevant learning opportunities at Kingston University

  • Networking and socialising with fellow inventors in the local area, and links with a national network of inventor clubs

  • Opportunities to exhibit at regional and national invention competitions

  • Ideas workshops to encourage aspiring inventors to get started
